– Accessibility – is a possibility to use legal and social rights, to elect and to be elected and to take obligations. All events are united by one common goal – creation of conditions for the provision of equality for all the members of our society. It is an attempt to attract attention to the issue of accessibility for persons with disabilities, to change its understanding and to motivate people to further activities – specialists of the Office for the rights of persons with disabilities explain the notion of accessibility.

Among this year’s key events there are – public presentation of Zero report on the situation with the rights of people with disabilities, presentation of the first in the country manual on universal design and also Accessibility Forum which will take place on May 6. Besides, the whole Week people who are interested in solving disability issues can get free consultations from Belarusian lawyers.

Accessibility Forum is an open site for presentation of the best projects aimed at solving issues of accessible environment. The organizers are sure that in order to make the world more comfortable and the society more tolerant it is not necessary to work in a specialized organization. Every person who cares of accessibility can become a part of this even as a participant or a guest.

Events of the Accessibility Week will give a possibility to a large amount of people to think of the issues of environment’s accessibility and to get acquainted with the Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities and its basic principles. It is especially topical because at the end of 2015 Belarus signed this international treaty and is making first steps to its ratification.
