24/04/2015

Exhibition of posters “Accessibility is -…” opens in the frames of annual Accessibility Week in Minsk. Exposition will be opened for everyone from April 24 till April 30 in Gallery TUT.BY (Minsk Derzhinskogo av. 57) the entrance is free.

Office for the rights of persons with disabilities became the inspirer of the creation of a series of posters showing different types of accessibility. According to the organizers a lot of people understand accessibility only as some architectural barriers and their elimination. But the issue of accessibility is much more complicated. Specialists offer to pay attention to different types of accessibility: mental, architectural, economic, legal, informational etc. Thanks to author’s understanding Veronika Chaika changed difficult concepts into understandable and close to everyone images. For example, a poster “Accessibility is – to read an interesting book” touches issues of informational accessibility for persons who have difficulties with comprehension of printed texts, “Accessibility is – do something you love” – issues of accessibility of education and employment of persons with disabilities.

The organizers of the unusual exhibition hope that the attractive and understandable form of presenting the information will give a possibility to many people to understand how accessibility matters in solving disability issues.

Participants of the Accessibility Week – 2015 will be able to buy a collection from the exhibition in the form of a set of postcards.

Exhibition “Accessibility is -…” is the third topical exhibition organized by the Office for the rights of persons with disabilities in the frames of Accessibility Week. In 2013 it was “Symbol of Accessibility”, in 2014 – “Universal design”.
