The results of the contest organized by the Office for the rights of persons with disabilities were summed up. Nominees and winners were announced during the award ceremony held in the frames of “Accessibility Week”.
The winners were announced by the ceremony’s host – a member of the jury Alexander Shevelevich (Kryn - Starcom Mediavest Groupe Belarus).
Marina Muchina and Marina Ustinova became the winners of the contest.
Alina Murinchik got the diploma for “Original author’s work”. Larisa Monakhova for “Active participation”.
General partner, Belarusian web portal TUT.BY is also holding vote in order to choose the winner among its readers. The results will be announced on May 24.
The coordinator of the Office for the rights of persons with disabilities Sergey Drozdovskiy said in his speech: “We are very grateful to all the participants who sent their works to the contest. Many people in our society understand the importance of Accessibility problem. And we consider the public discussion on the visualization of Accessibility symbol and making it understandable for public to be very important. This contest opens one more way to discussion by the society of the problem: how to reach equality with the help of accessibility. The award ceremony is held in the frames of Accessibility week, which is being held in Belarus now, not accidently. We understood the complexity of the task for participants. But it is very important that the first step has been made and we are very glad that so many designers, advertising agencies responded to the call and took part in participation of Accessibility symbol creation. By choosing the winners of the contest we haven’t closed the discussion of accessibility symbol. We consider that widening of the discussion of accessibility symbol as the way of understanding and acceptance of accessibility, as an integral part of our life should become the next step.
